Ready to go race. Rested a bit and packed up to travel. Looking forward to racing Phatwater.

Missed writing down a few of our workouts.. 10x 4′ pieces and then yesterday a good 21 km in double, the ocean was running a bit so we had some surf. Then this am with Rich we had another downwind the other way in singles., No wonder the California ocean [...]

Today was our 8.5km time trial. We do this once in a while to gauge our speed endurance. My time was 43:29 average speed 11.8 km/hour. Not terrible. Rich went easy in the K1 and yelled at me the whole way. This was good cause my GPS battery went dead [...]

On the course today alone. All pieces under 10'. Rest 2 minutes between.

Cliff and Barry and Pat and I had a super double ski grind today. 24km..broken into some 15' and 10' and 5' pieces..ocean and bay.

Phillipe is gone to the Carribean to race so Christina and I went double to keep pushing Patrick. 2 x 10' rest 2', 3 x5' rest 2' and 3 x 2' rest 1 minute. We killed him on every piece. Ok, love that. Good luck to Eva in Hawaii for [...]

This is actually the 3rd ski brought to the US from..... Austraila. The first 2 came with Phil Coles and Gordon Jefferies for a Surf Llifesaving Team event with LA County. This is a spec ski for lifesaving, not a wave ski as many of your comments thought. No rudder, no footwells and barely an indent for your bottom..something like 45 lbs and 18' long. Merv saw them paddle these skis in Carpinteria racing around the oil rigs with the Dorys. The skis were so far ahead, Merv ordered one on the spot. The ski in the piture is located at the Maritime Museum in Santa Barbara, another one is displayed in the Bath House, East Beach, Santa Barbara. The location of the 3rd one is unknown.

Next race for us is the 42 mile down river..thats the mighty Mississipi river called Phatwater. Pat and I are racing in a mako Elite Double to try and break Steve Woods record from last year. The river will have to cooperate..his time is something like 3 hours 54 mintues. [...]

This is an inquiry to Fenn paddlers and anyone who might need a ski transported to or from New York. Ocean Paddlesports is looking at sending our trailer with Fenn skis to New York and then right back to Southern Cal afterwards. Who would be interested in going to race [...]

Rich and I pumped out 6 x 1000m on 7' (thats about 2' rest with a 5' piece) times were slow with weed and current/wind opposites..but still a hard grinder.

Phillipe, Pat, Christina, KC and I did a good 20km in the ocean. no real wind, but some wierd bumps...beautiful day in Newport.

Since Phillip Bocarra has moved here (6 x Olympian and Friend) we are working out like crazy. Pat is getting pushed every work out and I am getting dropped of the wake in the first 30" of every piece. For sure it will make Patrick faster, but its just making [...]

5' pieces in the ocean with Phillipe and Patrick..gorgeous warm day, warm ocean and some time to paddle. Kids all at school..7th grade, 5th grade and preschool...

ok that's some serious mileage...all training for the Phatwater in Mississippi Oct 10....Cliff and Rich went double as well and Phillipe went single out to the OC 6s racing back from Catalina..what a fun paddle.

slow and steady today

Great workout today with Rich and Phillepe...3 x lido laps (4km) and then another 5km....training for Phatwater in Mississippi in 4 weeks. 42 miles on the River.

Another fun weekend and s super race. so much less stress and work than San Fran. No unloading and reloading of 30 skis. This race was a kick. I was so happy it was changed to 18 miles instead of 25...but half in the headwind was tough. Next event is [...]

As soon as we unload and reload the trailer for Chicago I will have a write up here about the USA Champs. Best course ever, best conditions, superb organization. Great results for Team Fenn. 12 out of the top 15…Pat was happy with 15th and I was totally stoked to [...]

Ok, skis are loaded and heading north tomorrow, so today was the last on water session. Barry, Eva, me and Noah did 2 sets of 5 x 2' on 1 minute in between at 60%..good hard pieces.
