Pat did a Long Beach to Newport run yesterday. 6-8 foot West swell, 22 mph sustanined wind. total distance was 35 km with warm up/down. Max speed was 22 km, He did 29 km in 1 hour 58 minutes...just surfing and having fun, not going hard. He went alone, but [...]

Good warm up and then 2 sets of 70" on, 20" off x 4. rest 2 between sets. Then 2 sets of 30" on 10" off rest 2 between setss. This is speed endurance with lactic acid built up/tolerance. Afterwards we did 20' wash riding, each pulling 5' at 75 [...]

Anne and Joe Zellner from Minnesota came for the weekend for some surfski lessons. What a nice couple. We had great fun in the Ocean. Pat got Anne going in and out through the surf at Newport Beach and 10th street gave us a 6' shore break with me in [...]

Rich in a K1 for a time trial, Philippe, Ed, Eva, me and Sean...6 x 1000 m on 7'. Turned into a killer, ended up doing 8... Course work is always so hard. As Sean said, it slows down time, the longest 5 minutes ever.

Bruce from Ventura, Ed from LA, Sean from Malibu, Eva and I thrashed it out in the bay today. 2 x 5', 4 x 40". 3 x 3', 4 x 20", 4 x 2' and 5 x 1 minute. Rest between 1' and more between sets. This one is hard [...]

I was looking forward to racing this weekend with Pat in the double. There were quite a few doubles, with Eva and Sean, Eric Smith and partner, Rami and his new wife Krista (4 time Kayak World Champion)..but as it turned out we got to paddle back together, no race [...]

Another disapointing day to add to the list of disapointing Southern California races this season. No ones fault this time and it was the right call becasue without a GPS with way points set, you would have been lost at sea. Philippe, Rich, Pat, De, Sean and Bruce today...flat water so hard workout with 2 x 4', 3x 3', 4 x 2', 5 x 1' and 6 x 30" 1 minute off between peices, 2 minutes between sets. Killer.
