Dana Point Day
Tough day for Pat not to race has he has been sick. I was well enough to paddle the short course with Hayden, but we didn’t win and he was bummed. Shame, he did have fun though. […]
Great day of racing in Dana Point
Hayden (13) and I raced double and had some great competition. Congratulations to Barry and Daniella (12) Born for first place.
There was some decent wind and small swell to ride, a really fun race and challenging for the kids. There was even a double ski with 2 x 12 year old girls. Now that is saying something as the conditions must have been tough for them and they did fantastic!
Hayden is learning all the time and having a blast!
Next shipment to contain the Atom and the Green Red 7
Our next order from South Africa will have some great new skis. First the Atom ski from Carbonology. This lower volume (built for under 170 pound paddler) is in demand with more women taking up ski paddling. See related article on www.surfski.info […]
Next container on order to be here in early summer (June)
New Red 7 Green ski, smaller volume ski from Carbonology and more more more. We are getting ready for a rocking summer! Deposit suggested if you want the Green ski.
Sprout wins again
Rich Sprout contiues his dominance of the California surfski scene with a win this time in the Southern Califronia winter racing series race held in Redondo Beach. This time with some decent condtitions, Sprout put over a minute on the field while surfing the rebound off the harbor wall and [...]
Congrats to Rich Sprout
Rich was the overall men's surfski winner at the two day Wavechaser winter series race in San Francisco. Wavechaser runs the premier winter racing series in Northern Californa. Sprout who lives and trains in Newport Beach, is a relative novice in the surfski, having started paddling a little over a [...]
First real paddle in 2 weeks
Still coughing up greenies, but it warmed up enough to paddle 12km..4 x 10' pieces in the ocean. I went alone today and ended up going into the headwind, but with some tiny swells. Nice day, and good to be back out there.
Container Arrival
Lots of Fenn Mako XTs, Custom Kayak Horizons and Mocke Gear. Come check it out at our demo day on Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Newport Aquatic Center. […]
container uppacked
After a lengthy discussion with a customs supervisor...he decided to over ride the intensive exam and deliver the container. So many errors on the part of customs prompted this decision. I guess we got lucky......
Customs carries on the battle
After paying for an exray exam, customs decided to take the container for a full, unload "intensive" exam. More fun and games for them. More time and money for us. I do not know when we will get this shipment..may take another week.
A week of arguing with customs
Finally after computer glitches, paperwork misplacements and total government incompetence (Customs and the Port of LA)..fees and passes and taxes and storage...we will fianlly get our little container on Monday.
Container off rail in LA…customs hold
We have a customs hold, should clear up by tomorrow. Then we unload in Costa Mesa, finally.
Train problems
Due to a problem with the train..again, its always something. We won't be unloading until late next week.
Glad we didn't go to the San Diego Race.
Congrats to Philippe and Rich, first and second...in the bay at the Hano Hano race. I guess this would be the third time they cancelled the race because the ocean was bumpy. Isn't that why we paddle SURF skis? Darn it, I wish they would get the saftey support to [...]
We've been having some great weather…for paddling in the rough!

GREAT PADDLE IN 35 MPH Wind
We had a terrific group today. Me, Pat, Rich, Philippe, Eva, Alan, Barry and Corry. Met at the coast guard and did a run to Newport Pier. Smaller swell than Monday, but really humping winds and gusts. The ocean was a mess with runs going out to sea and then [...]

Gail force winds make some excitement finally in So Cal
Me and Pat, Philippe and Alan of the North headed out in gale winds and rain....big west swell made for sloppy and confused nasty bump. Pat and Philippe went North..I went out and boinged around and came back. Alan didn't go as far as I did, but we all had [...]

Starting out the new year
Haven't listed many paddles for a while, but had a good one today to get the new year started. 20 km in the double with Pat. 500 at 75% 1000 m at 65% steady.
Shipment was delayed on the sea somewhere
Safmarine can't tell me why, but we are about a week behind. Should be on rail in a few days.
